In a bid to bolster the global safety record for finasteride, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration has announced it will add the medication to its hair loss treatment list of common side effects.
The new drugs, called Propecia and Proscar, will also treat male pattern baldness.
The FDA has already said it is "re-examining" the use of finasteride, which is used to treat hair loss, and it is expected to review its warning to add the new drug to the hair loss treatment list, which it announced on Oct. 29.
